Matt brings over 20 years of technical and leadership experience to Signal, where he heads the product and engineering organizations and serves as Data Protection Officer (DPO). He has a strong background in building and operating technology teams in the US, UK, and Asia with a focus on ad tech, consumer intelligence, and enterprise systems.
During his diverse career, Matt has worked in development, senior leadership, and advisory positions in startups and venture capital firms. Prior to Signal, Matt was Founder and CTO of Psyche, a large-scale marketing analytics company that pioneered advances in social listening and consumer sentiment analysis. With a background in engineering, he was one of the original engineers at MySpace. As an advisor for venture capital firms in the UK and Asia, he identified new investment opportunities, worked on M&A and participated in two IPOs.
He has global experience guiding businesses through evolving consumer and data privacy regulations including the United Kingdom Data Protection Act (DPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), the Chinese State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film & Television (SAPPRFT), the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA).
As an international award-winning technologist, author, and entrepreneur, Matt’s accolades include an Effie and a London International Award for work in Advertising Technology. His book, The Ad War, placed on Amazon’s Best Sellers List in Advertising and Marketing.
